Scripture (Jeremiah 15:18, NKJV):
"Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream as waters that fail?"
Devotional:
Jeremiah voices the cry many of us have felt - when suffering drags on and God seems silent. His honesty shows us it's okay to bring raw, unfiltered pain to the Lord. But God is not actually a "failing spring." Our emotions can blur our vision, yet His living water never runs dry. In moments of despair, faith isn't pretending the pain isn't real - it's choosing to trust that God is still faithful, even when feelings scream otherwise.
Questions to Consider:
What discouraging job or task have you undertaken? What made it hard and what were your feelings about it?
What keeps me anchored to God when my emotions tell me He's distant or silent?
What feels impossible or discouraging to you right now? How is it affecting you?
Prayer:
Lord, when my wounds feel incurable and my hope runs thin, remind me that You are not a broken cistern but the fountain of life. Help me cling to Your faithfulness, even when I don't feel it.
