Scripture (1 John 4:7, NIV)
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
Devotional:
At the core of everything is love. Not the watered-down kind the world throws around, but the kind that can only come from God Himself. John tells us that love is the evidence - if we truly know God, love will flow out of us.
Lack of love is often the root behind distrust, division, and even unbelief. People don't push away Jesus because He failed them - they push Him away because they've been wounded by people who claimed His name but didn't live His love.
God's love isn't just a feeling; it's action. It looks like patience when you want to snap. It looks like forgiveness when bitterness feels easier. It looks like serving when no one notices. And when we love like that, people see God through us and in our fruits.
Questions to Consider:
Who around me needs to experience God's love through my words or actions today?
Have I been letting frustration or bitterness block me from showing love?
What would change if I chose to love first, even when it's uncomfortable?
Prayer:
Father, remind me today that love comes from You. Teach me to love others the way You've loved me - sacrificially, patiently, and without conditions. Let my life point people back to You, not push them away. Amen.
