Scripture (Jeremiah 17:5, NKJV):
"Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord."
Devotional:
Jeremiah doesn't sugarcoat it - when we put our confidence in people (which we ALL DO THIS), systems, or even our own strength instead of God, we set ourselves up for failure. Flesh is fragile. People will disappoint, but God never fails. Trusting in man will bring a curse, not because God wants to punish us, but because anything built on weak foundations will eventually collapse. Real blessing begins when we shift our weight onto Him - the only One strong enough to hold us together.
Questions to Consider:
Where am I tempted right now to rely on people or my own strength instead of God?
What does this verse teach me about the consequences of misplaced trust?
How can I actively shift my trust back to the Lord in this season?
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the times I've leaned on others more than You. Help me place my full trust in You alone, knowing that every other source of strength will fail.
