Scripture (John 15:12, NIV):

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

Devotional:

Seems pretty simple, right? Yet we can't seem to manage it as humans. We get mad because someone got something we wanted or did it better. We turn love into a competition - and somewhere in all that comparison, we forget the one thing Jesus told us to do: love each other.

Jesus didn't make love optional; He made it commanded. His kind of love isn't based on feelings, convenience, or who deserves it - it's rooted in obedience. To love like Jesus means loving when it's hard, when you're tired, when people don't deserve it, and when it costs you pride.

It's not that we don't know how; it's that we've let pride, insecurity, and selfishness take the driver's seat. Loving others like Jesus means laying all that down. It means celebrating someone else's win without feeling like it's your loss. It's choosing people over position and humility over ego - every single day.

Questions to consider:

  1. How can I show real love - the kind that lifts others up?

  2. What areas of jealousy or competition do I need to surrender to God today?

  3. When was the last time I celebrated someone else's blessing without comparing it to mine?

Prayer:

Lord, help me to stop measuring my worth by what others have. Teach me to love the way You love - without envy, pride, or fear of being overlooked. When jealousy tries to creep in, remind me that Your love is enough for me and everyone else too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
