Scripture (Psalm 37:7, NIV):
"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes."
Devotional:
It's easy to love Jesus when everything's calm — when the money stretches, the car runs, and the prayers feel answered. But then the waves start again, and suddenly peace feels like a visitor who never stays long enough. The truth is, sometimes God uses those breaks in the storm not to reward us, but to ready us. He's shaping you in the quiet and sanding you in the chaos — and both are part of His design.
The waiting seasons feel cruel only until you realize He's not withholding — He's rebuilding. You're being tuned for precision, like an instrument that keeps slipping out of key every time life gets loud. God isn't punishing you by pausing your peace; He's teaching you how to keep it no matter the conditions. The same faith that carried you when things looked hopeless is the faith He's stretching now so it can carry someone else later.
You may not see it yet, but every "not yet" from God is preparing you to hold what's coming without breaking. So when peace feels temporary, remember this: it's not your peace that's fading — it's your roots growing deeper.
Questions to Consider:
Where do you tend to lose your peace the fastest, and what might God be revealing about that?
How has God used waiting seasons to strengthen your endurance before?
What can you thank Him for right now, even if the peace feels temporary?
Prayer:
Father, I'm tired of waiting, but I know You're not wasting a second of this season. Help me stop chasing peace like it's a feeling and start resting in it as a promise. When distractions rise, remind me that You're still in control and still at work. Grow my roots deep enough to hold steady through the next storm. In Jesus' name, Amen.
