Scripture (Jeremiah 12:1-2, NKJV):
"Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgements. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? You have planted them, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth but far from their mind. "
Devotional:
Jeremiah's honesty reminds us that God can handle our questions. We all wonder at times why the wicked seem to flourish while we struggle. But this passage reminds us that outward success does not equal God's blessing. The wicked may look rooted and fruitful, but their hearts are far from Him - and that will not last. True security is found not in appearances, but in walking closely with God, even when life feels unfair.
Questions to Consider:
What situation caused you to wonder why the wicked prosper?
When you're tempted to question God, what steps can you take to remember His wisdom?
How can I keep my trust anchored in God's justice even when life feels unfair?
Prayer:
Lord, keep my heart close to You. When I'm tempted to envy the success of others, remind me that their fruit fades, but Your truth endures forever. Help me trust that Your justice will prevail in Your time. Amen.
