You Are Not Your Past

Are you holding on to something you need to let go of or are you blaming yourself for your past? DON'T!

Scripture (Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV):

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Devotional:

God never called you by your failures - only by your name. While people may keep records of what you did, Jesus already nailed those records to your cross. Your past may explain where you've been, but it doesn't define where you're going. God specializes in new beginnings, even in places that look like wastelands. If He can carve rivers through deserts, He can carve hope into your story. Today is not about who you were; it's about who you're becoming in Him.

Questions to Consider:

  1. What labels from your past do you still struggle to shake off?

  2. How can you remind yourself daily that God is doing something new in your life?

  3. Who in your circle needs encouragement to stop dwelling on their past and start seeing God's new work?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for setting me free from the weight of my past. Help me to see myself through Your eyes, not through the eyes of others or my own mistakes. Show me the new thing You're doing in me, and give me courage to walk boldly into it. Amen.
